The First song Elvis ever recorded was "My Happiness", on July 18, 1953. He paid $3.98 to record the record at Sam Phillip's Memphis Recording Service. This was for his mother Gladys'. The B-side of the record was "That's When Your Heartaches Begin".
The first Elvis song ever played on the radio was "That's Alright, Mama", which Elvis recorded with Scotty Moore and Bill Black at that same studio under the direction of Sam Phillips. Dewey Phillips played it on a Memphis radio station on July 10, 1954. Response was so strong that Phillips played it and its B-side, "Blue Moon of Kentucky" over and over all night. In early 1955 Elvis honing his skills by playing lots of little gigs all over the south with Scotty and Bill . The raw, exuberant, unpolished 19yr. old Elvis as he sounded early in his singing career prior to his signing of contract with RCA in 1955. (THE UNKNOWN, UNPUBLICIZED ELVIS). His performance: "Strip-tease with clothes on" , "His legs spread in a straddling stance" , "he whacked his feet ... like a cowboy riding a bronco with a rock-&-roll buck". This is the origin of Rock & Roll terminology! The style was called rockability - a white artist to sing black rhythm & blues music. Most people assume the 1st Elvis recording to be RCA's "Mystery Train" in 1956, but it is NOT. The interview with Bob Hoffer on Aug 7, 1956 is the last one in which the uninhibited Elvis would talk freely to the world, freely at large. His every utterance thereafter would become closely guarded by Colonel Parker, Elvis' agent. Complete with a collector booklet FRONT AND BACK COVER
'The Beginning 54-55', plus one-of-a-kind custom see-through LP Cover to reveal Pink Vinyl.
